Should I avoid eating carbs late at night to lose weight?
I work out most mornings and don’t eat meat in the evenings for digestion purposes.
Yes and no. There are two main types of carbohydrates: Simple and Complex. Simple carbs are simple sugars that digest quickly in our system. Think candy, juice, and white enriched bread. Complex carbs are rich in fiber and take longer to break down. Examples include whole-wheat pasta, starchy vegetables, and whole-grain bread. Eating complex carbohydrates an hour or two before bed will help keep you satiated throughout the night. Keep in mind that a proper diet should be paired with an exercise program. Weight loss boils down to expending more calories than you are consuming. As long as you are burning more calories in a day than you are eating, a complex carbohydrate before bed will not negatively impact your weight loss.
