Happy Monday! Let's burn off those easter sweets :) Make sure to warm up your muscles before starting this workout – they're about to take a pounding. This core circuit will have you gasping for water breaks, so don't forget to take them frequently. Let's go!
Seated Bench Leg Pull-Ins

  1. Sit on the end of a bench with your legs fully extended in front of you angled towards the floor slightly.
  2. Grip the sides of the bench for stability.
  3. Leaning back to about a 45-degree angle from the bench. This is the start position.
  4. Pull your knees in toward you at the same time moving your torso towards them. Make sure you exhale as you perform this part of the movement. Hold for a count of one.
  5. Return to the start position by extending your legs out and relaxing your abdominal muscles. Breathe in as you do this. Pause and repeat.

This exercise can also be performed on the floor by placing your arms to the sides and raising your legs off the floor slightly. slightly over the floor. More advanced athletes can use a dumbbell between their feet or attach a pulley to them for added resistance.

  1. Lie flat with hands under your buttocks.
  2. Keep your knees together and pull them in towards you while moving your torso towards them (lift your head, neck and shoulders up).
  3. Hold and then slowly return to starting position.

  1. Lie on your back on a mat with hands under your lower buttocks on either side to support your pelvis.
  2. Legs straight out in front of you, ankles together and feet slightly off the floor.
  3. Keep your knees straight and raise your legs by flexing the hips until they are completely flexed.
  4. Return to starting position.
Plank to Push-Up

  1. Start in the plank position with your elbows shoulder-width apart.
  2. Press yourself up from the floor one arm at a time into a push-up, maintaining your body in a straight line.
  3. Slowly return to the starting plank position the same way, one arm at a time.
  4. Repeat the movement alternating sides.

  1. Lock yourself in the plank position ensuring that your body forms a straight line from shoulders to heels.
  2. Bring your feet together and simultaneously transfer your weight onto your left arm.
  3. Allow your feet to slowly tip over as your body rolls into a side plank in a controlled fashion.
  4. Reverse the motion back to the full plank before transferring to your right side.

  1. Get into a face down position on the floor supporting your upper body on your forearms. Your elbows should be bent at 90 degrees.
  2. Extend your legs straight out behind you, supporting them on your toes and balls of your feet.
  3. Keep your body in a straight line by tightening your abdominal and oblique muscles.
  4. Hold for as long as possible.

For extra balance training and core strengthening, you can lift one arm or leg.

  1. Place your feet at shoulder-width with your toes pointed slightly out. Brace your core and keep your chest up.
  2. Bend first at the knees then at the hips. Lower yourself slightly to pre-engage the hamstring muscles. Now launch yourself up into the air.
  3. At the same time, bring your knees up towards your chest in midair. Land on both feet with slightly bent knees. Move right into your next jump.

  1. Begin standing tall with a tight core. Your chest will be up and your gaze will be straight ahead. Bend at the knees and drive your hips back as you lower yourself into a squat position.
  2. Launch yourself up while simultaneously twisting to the other side. Your body will perform a 180 degree turn in midair.
  3. Land with bent knees and immediately go right into another jump squat, turning to the starting position. Repeat this alternating pattern.

  1. Stand with your feet hip width apart. Your toes should be pointing straight ahead or only slightly outward.
  2. Cross your arms in front of your body, place your hands behind your head or at the sides of your head.
  3. Keep your weight on your heels and bend your knees while lowering your hips towards the ground as if you are sitting down on a chair.
  4. Keep your back straight at all times.
  5. Continue until you feel a slight stretch in your quadriceps. Do not let your knees extend out beyond the level of your toes.
  6. Pause for a count of one.
  7. In an explosive movement, drive down through your heels pushing yourself up of the floor with your quads.
  8. At the same time extend our arms out above you.
  9. Land with your knees slightly bent to absorb the impact.
  10. Repeat

  1. Begin by standing tall with a straight back and tight core. Slightly bend the knees and push the hips back. Bring the hands up and keep the chest up. Feet should be shoulder-width apart.
  2. Jump and launch yourself forward. Swing your arms back and use the momentum.
  3. Land in a squat position. Knees are bent and hips are back. Return to starting position and repeat.

  • Standing straight up, bring your feet outside of shoulder width.
  • Squat down by bending at the knees and driving your hips back.
  • Keeping your chest up, forcefully push off the ground with the balls of your feet.
  • Land on the balls of your feet, remaining in the squatting position. Your legs will remain wide.
  • Repeat.

  1. Come to the ground, placing your knees below your hips and your hands below your shoulders. Elevate your hips up, extending your legs and arms. Keep the head in a neutral position.
  2. Move the right hand forward as you simultaneously move the left foot forward. Afterwards, move the left hand and right foot forward.
  3. Continue in this back and forth pattern, always moving the opposite hand and foot. Remember to brace the core throughout the movement.

  • Lay face down on the ground with extended legs.
  • Point your toes while you place your hands beneath your shoulders.
  • Push yourself up into the plank position.
  • Maintaining a tight core and flat back, bring your left knee to your right elbow.
  • Pause and slowly return each to the starting point.
  • Repeat with the other side and keep alternating.

  1. Get into a push­up position with hands under shoulders and body straight from head to toes.
  2. Engage your core and bend your elbows, keeping them in towards the body.
  3. Lower your body towards the floor.

  5. Jump back to starting position.

  1. Lie on a mat and position yourself in a plank position. Place your elbows on the floor beneath your shoulders. Your toes should touch the floor and your torso should be lifted in a straight line.
  2. Engage your core muscles and lift one foot off the floor. Keep the rest of your body as still as you can. Your heel should lift until it is in line with your buttocks.
  3. Slowly lower the leg to the starting position and repeat with the other leg.

  3. With your gaze straight ahead, bring your chest and legs off of the ground, focusing all of the tension in your core. Hold this position for as long as you can. Afterward, slowly return to the starting position.

  • Take a battle rope in each hand, then bring your hands together. Keep the ropes around core height.
  • Keep a slight bend in your knees and keep your core braced.
  • In one motion, forcefully swing the ropes to the left while keeping your legs braced and knees slightly bent.
  • Reverse the motion, bringing the ropes to the right.
  • Continue swinging the ropes side to side while maintaining a tight and braced stance.

  1. Place a kettlebell on the ground. Step over the kettlebell so that it is in the center beneath you. Move your feet to shoulder-width or just outside of shoulder-width. Tighten your core and keep your chest up.
  2. Begin by kicking your hips back and slightly bending your knees. Extend your arms down to grab onto the kettlebell.
  3. Holding on to the kettlebell, drive your hips forward to stand back up. Slowly, reverse the movement by kicking your hips back and slightly bending the knees. Do not let your lower back arch.

  1. Place two dumbbells on the floor.
  2. Stand facing the dumbbells with your feet shoulder width apart.
  3. Bend knees and hips to lower your torso in a squatting movement,keep your back straight.
  4. At the bottom of the squat grip the dumbbells with an overhand grip,keeping your arms fully extended.
  5. Return to an upright position holding the dumbbells with your palms facing towards your body and extending your hips forward. Do not round your back.
  6. Return the dumbbells to the floor in the same manner you picked them up.
  7. Repeat.

  1. Holding the handles of the resistance band, step on to the middle. Place your feet at shoulder-width with toes pointing forward. Tighten your core and keep your chest up.
  2. Bend your knees slightly and drive your hips back but NOT lower than your knees. Again, keep the chest up. This is the starting position.
  3. Forcefully contract your glutes, driving them forward. Do not just lean back. Your glutes should be fully contracted. Pause then return to the starting position.

  1. Secure a firm grip with both hands on an appropriately weighted dumbbell. Place your feet shoulder-width apart. Begin by moving the dumbbell up and over towards your right side.
  2. Twist your body to bring the dumbbell down and to the left. Bend at the knees and drop your hips slightly. Make the motion of placing the dumbbell on the ground.
  3. Repeat the movement, taking the dumbbell back up and overhead. Keep your arms straight throughout.

  1. Stand with your feet no wider than shoulder width apart and hold the medicine ball with one hand at either side in front of your chest.
  2. Rotate your body from the waist up to the left side and raise the medicine ball over your left shoulder, not quite fully extending your arms. Be sure to get extra reach by pointing your right toe.
  3. Using a chopping motion, bring the ball diagonally across the front of your body so that the ball ends on the outer side of your right shin.
  4. Bring the ball straight up the right side of your body and again move diagonally across your body once again to complete the motion.

  1. Adjust the pulley lever to be above you. Stand next to a pulley machine with your left side. Grab the handle with both hands. Brace your core and separate your feet to outside of shoulder width.
  2. Begin the movement by twisting with your obliques to pull the handle down and across your body.
  3. Once the handle is on the right side of your body, pause and slowly return the handle to the starting position.
