  1. While sitting on the floor with a straight back and tight core, bring each foot inward. Feet should be touching and your legs should make a diamond shape.
  2. Grab your feet with your hands. Place your elbows on the inside of your knees. Slowly lean forward from the hips. Once you feel the stretch in your hip flexors, hold for 15 to 30 seconds. Slowly rise and repeat.
Knee-to-Chest Lower Back Stretch

  1. Lie on your back on a mat with your legs extended in front of you and backs of heels on the floor.
  2. Grab hold of your right knee and gently pull it up to your chest until you can feel a slight stretch in your lower back.
  3. Try to bring the knee as close to your chest as is comfortable while keeping the left leg relaxed.
  4. Hold the stretch and then release the leg to starting position.
  5. Repeat with the left leg.

  1. Stand tall and bring your right arm across your upper body, holding it with your left arm just below or above the elbow.
  2. Hold the stretch and then release.
  3. Repeat the stretch with the left arm.

  1. Lie face down with your hands under your shoulders.
  2. Point your feet downwards to lengthen your spine.
  3. Slowly push your torso up as far as you comfortably can – try to get your hips to rise off the floor slightly.
  4. Hold the stretch and then lower down to starting position.

Avoid this stretch if you have back problems.

  1. Begin by standing tall with your feet placed shoulder-width apart.
  2. Maintain this posture as you raise your right knee as high as you can and step forward. Try not to round your lower back.
  3. Repeat with the left leg and continue to alternate legs as you walk.

  1. Stand tall holding onto a pole or stationary object for support.
  2. Engage your abs as you swing your one leg as far out in front of you and then back behind you as you comfortably can.
  3. Switch sides once you have completed repetitions on the first leg.
Inchworms

  1. Stand tall with your legs extended straight.
  2. Bend over from the hips and touch the floor with your palms flat on the floor.
  3. Keep your legs straight as you walk your hands as far forward as you can. Don’t let your hips sag.
  4. Take small steps and walk your feet to your hands.
  5. Continue for the desired amount of repetitions and then straighten up to the starting position.
Primary muscle group(s):

  1. Get into a face down position on the floor supporting your upper body on your forearms. Your elbows should be bent at 90 degrees.
  2. Extend your legs straight out behind you, supporting them on your toes and balls of your feet.
  3. Keep your body in a straight line by tightening your abdominal and oblique muscles.
  4. Hold for as long as possible.

For extra balance training and core strengthening, you can lift one arm or leg.
